Morning All
Pick up my new Black GT R yesterday from Boston.
Traded in a Porsche.
Dealer was very good.
What a Car,I have never driven anything as fast I think I'm in love.
I plan to drive it year round in Maine except for deep snow.
Have heard about new Polisher/Sealant which means no more polishing, my MB dealer offers it for $795. sounds expensive but if it works may be worth it anyone have experience of this product Advice ?
Received two "nuts" for front plate any suggestion how they are attached ?

The sealant you are thinking of is a paint sealent that acts as a wax but its not wax. Its a chemical used to coat your paint kind of like a invisible extra layer of clear coat to lock in your paint and claer coat and protect it from harmful UV rays and other harmful things.
However, this isnt a permanent fix by any means. Most sealants are only effective for about a month in normal weather conditions and half that time in harsh conditions.
795 is outrageously expensive. I use to be a professional detailer and even the expensive high end stuff costs about 50bucks a gal. Labor rates on this detail job because first you have to paint clean it, polish, then depending on the detailer whethor or not to use wax then the sealant application ranges around 150-250USD.
Since its a brand new car what i would first do is depending on whethor or not it has seen alot of sunlight exposure and or rain etc etc. I would include a good clay bar and wax job with the detail process. Once you use sealant you literally never have to wax or polish again as long as you re apply the sealant at least every month in normal weather conditions.

If you have it garaged kept and only drive it on the weekends, how often do you apply the sealant? Where I'm at it's like 115 degrees in the summer time.

Well since its 115 outside I would apply it monthly if you only take it out on a weekend basis.

I agree with Bluebird, I would just get the detailing done. When I got the process done it seemed to add a bit of orange peel to the finish, but could just be me. Either way enjoy your nice new ride, I'm sure it will be fun to drive year round.

well the polish is a separate product from the sealant. The sealant acts as a wax on top of the wax to seal the process in.
There are a variety of good sealants and polishes out there. The most common being meguiars very good stuff especially their NXT line. Some of my personal favs are 3m, pinnacle, wolfgang, and klasse.

i was just a little worried because it was more expensive than the car but i talked with Reimax owner and he said, "if it blows up your 1 of a kind R33/400R I will be in big debt to you" lol, and said "your wish would be my command for a new car!!"
Now i kind of want it to blow so i can have maybe Tommy Kira R34 or Mine's R33, My Shop has the Mine's R34, but We cant drive it because we cant get it legalized for regular street use, but its a beast on the track!! thats for sure.

Sorry to hear they got you for this. About $749 dealer profit in that one.
More importantly, super congrats on the car. You're so luck to score one. Despite whatever variant of polymer sealant they put on the car, a high quality carnauba wax (no cleaners) is a great way to enhance the shine.
Personally, I'd leave what you have on the car there until spring 2009 and then Zaino that baby.
