Thursday morning, Andrea Pininfarina — CEO of the famed Italian design studio Pininfarina (http://www.pininfarina.com/) which is most well known for the myriad Ferrari designs, but that also penned the lines of a multitude of other brands –died in a motor vehicle accident near Turin Italy. The 51-year old executive was driving his Vespa scooter to the company’s design and R & D center when he was struck and killed by a car.

Andrea Pininfarina became the CEO of Pininfarina in 2001 and was appointed chairman in 2006. Andrea was the grandson of company founder Battista “Pinin” Pininfarina and is survived by his wife, two sons and daughter.

Wow how sad. I am suprised he was driving a vespa instead of a ferrari. Oh well sad story.

I'm sorry to hear this news. I would love a 2 wheel mode of transportation but incidents like this keep me from seriously getting in to it.

I'm scared to death of motorcycles and stuff like that. My dad was killed a year ago on one. I would love to get the gas mileage that one gets but theres no way I will do it.

Seriously that is tragic. Although I have to say just from reading the headline I thought he went out in a Ferrari at like 200mph since he’s Pininfarina but riding a Vespa? Really not the proper way for a man like that to go but fate can be a cruel mistress I suppose. My regards to his 3 kids.
